Patient’s Perception on Digital Health: A Narrative Review

Abstract

In today’s era of digitalisation, numerous types of digital health interventions have become 
readily available for stakeholders. Many foresee them as facilitators while for some patients, 
they pose specific challenges. This systematic review of paper aims to look into deeper insights 
with regard to patient’s perceptions of digital health. The study also makes an attempt to 
explore favourable facilitators and challenges posed by digital health. For this digital libraries 
such as Scopus, PubMed, Medline etc. were searched. Also many researches were referred 
from google scholar index, IQVIA Institute for Human Data Science, PWC, WHO, UK’s 
Commissioner Information Office notes. Thirty publications were included to carry forward 
the present study. The study further found from reviewing a vast amount of literature that, the 
scope of digital health is never ending, especially in such a dynamic world. Health literacy has 
come out to be a potential indicator of digital health. It is also seen that, digital health 
technology is advantageous in reducing costs burdens, promoting logistics requirement, 
helping in managing and aggregation of data. But, there are some limitations also, with respect 
to digital technology. Hence, to promote digital health, it is essential to make patients 
understand the complexity of technology, especially belonging to older age and adequate 
amount of knowledge must be disseminated regarding the subject.
