A RARE CASE OF HERPES ZOSTER IN A PATIENT WITH LAMELLAR ICHTHYOSIS
Main Article Content
Abstract
Hereby we report a case of an 8-year-old girl who has an autosomal recessive lamellar
ichthyosis since birth, that was gradually resolving previously, now complicated by herpes
zoster with secondary bacterial infection. Due to compromised skin barrier function, as there
is a defect in TGM1 gene that codes for transglutaminase, the child is predisposed to various
skin infections. The child was treated with emollients, antiviral agent, antibiotics and
antihistamine and is on follow up.
